Covid-19 Update 11-16-2020

Dear Member:

In response to Governor Kate Brown’s 2-week statewide pause to contain the spread of COVID-19, Midstate Electric Cooperative has had to pull back on steps we have been taking to return to normal work and business practices.

Since MEC is as an essential service provider, we will be allowed to keep our office lobby open to the public with the special measures we already have in place. Remember, most services can be handled from the safety of your home. We are asking you to continue using these services rather than visiting the MEC office. Accounts can be managed on SmartHub (standard billing) and, MyUsage (prepaid billing) programs located on our website, www.mse.coop. Payments can be made at the payment drop box, payment kiosk or by phone at 541-536-2126 option 2.

As always, our line crews are ready to respond in case of outages. We will still be responding to service calls and the majority of our normal daily operations.

The key to keeping the lights on is healthy employees. Our line crews have been separated to reduce risk. Crews are reporting to separate locations within the facility grounds and are assigned to permanent crews. While we have always valued member engagement, we are asking that our employees be given at least six feet of social space if a need arises to approach them.

We are limiting other staff’s exposure to each other by having employees return to working from home when possible, and we continue to provide safe working distances (per CDC guidelines) for employees that are working from the office.

If you anticipate problems in paying your electric bill, please contact our member services representatives at 541-536-2126 option 3 as soon as possible. There are energy-assistance programs available and they can work with you on a payment plan.

The safety and health of our employees and community is top priority. Thank you for your support as we work together to reduce the risk of this disease spreading in our area.

Sincerely,

Dave Schneider
